Why Choose a Digital Scavenger Hunt in Boston?
Planning a kids' party or field trip in a busy city like Boston can be overwhelming. Traditional guided tours often bore young children, and organizing a DIY treasure hunt requires hours of preparation—printing clues, hiding items, and hoping the wind doesn't blow them away.
Quest-Hero solves these problems by combining the excitement of a video game with the beauty of Boston's outdoors. Our GPS-guided platform works instantly on your phone, guiding your team to specific coordinates around Boston Common, the Public Garden, and historic Freedom Trail landmarks. There's no need to hire expensive actors or worry about scheduling; you start whenever you're ready.
The Quest-Hero Experience: History Meets Adventure
Your mission begins at the heart of the city. As you navigate from the Frog Pond to the Make Way for Ducklings statues, players will unlock:
- Tricky Riddles: Solvable only by observing your surroundings.
- Photo Challenges: Snap creative team photos at iconic spots like the Swan Boats.
- Fun Facts: Learn the secrets of the Great Elm or the history of the State House without it feeling like a classroom.

"I was dreading planning my son's 10th birthday, but Quest-Hero saved the day. The boys loved using the phone to find the next clue, and running around Boston Common burned off all that cake energy!"
- Sarah M., Back Bay
"As a teacher, I'm always looking for field trips that are actually engaging. This was fantastic—the students learned about the Freedom Trail history without even realizing they were studying. Highly recommend."
- Mr. Dave T., 4th Grade Teacher
"We did this while visiting family in Boston. It was way cheaper than the guided duck tours and allowed us to explore at our own pace. The 'Make Way for Ducklings' challenge was a highlight!"

Where does the Boston scavenger hunt start?
Our most popular Boston hunt begins centrally at the Boston Common, near the Visitor Information Center. It is easily accessible by the T (Park Street Station) and close to parking garages.
Is this suitable for a 6-year-old's birthday party?
Absolutely! Quest-Hero is designed for kids ages 6-12. Younger children love finding the landmarks and helping with photo challenges, while older kids enjoy reading the map and solving the riddles. We recommend one adult per team to manage the phone.
Can we pause the game for lunch?
Yes! The game is entirely self-paced. Feel free to pause the timer and grab a clam chowder at Quincy Market or a picnic in the Public Garden before resuming your adventure.
How does the outdoor treasure hunt work?
The treasure hunt runs right in your mobile browser (Safari or Chrome). GPS guides you to each station where exciting riddles await.
What do I need to play?
You only need a smartphone or tablet with GPS - Android or Apple, either works perfectly. For treasure hunt games you should also hide a small treasure at the final stop.
What can I use as a treasure?
Anything fun works: small toys, candy, chocolate, or another surprise. It doesn’t have to be expensive. A themed container such as a small treasure chest adds to the excitement.
What ages can take part?
Our quests are suitable for children ages 4 and up and adapt to the selected age range. Younger kids who can’t read yet may need a little help.
How long does a game last?
Playtime depends on your route and the number of quizzes. Plan for roughly 30–90 minutes for a typical adventure. The setup shows you the expected walking distance.
Where can we play the treasure hunt?
The quests automatically adjust to your chosen location. Play in a park, downtown, your neighborhood, or even the backyard.
Do I need to prepare anything?
Preparation is quick and easy. Pick the stations on a map to create your personalized route and you’re ready to go in minutes.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
A little rain is fine, but please postpone the game if thunderstorms or high winds are forecast to keep everyone safe.
Can we pause the game?
Yes. You can pause at any time and continue later. Your progress is saved automatically.
What if we can’t solve a quiz?
You receive up to three hints. If you’re still stuck, you can skip the quiz and keep the adventure moving.
How many times can we play a purchased game?
Each quest can be completed twice.
How long is a game valid?
Your game license is valid for one year from the purchase date.
What if I placed a station at the wrong spot?
No worries - even if it ended up in a pond or on private property. You can adjust every station at any time, including while you play. Just reopen the setup and move the marker.
